چکیده

Abstract Recently, microbial biopolymer-based soil treatment (BPST) has gained attention for its application in environmentally friendly stabilization, particularly enhancing the strength and stability of fine-grained soils. However, effects BPST on clay’s compressibility (consolidation) expansion (swelling) behaviors remain unclear. This study used xanthan gum, a microbially produced polysaccharide with anionic charges, to stabilize kaolinite clay. The effect gum consolidation swelling behavior cohesive clays was assessed through series experimental tests, including one-dimensional tests elastic wave measurements, environmental scanning electron microscopy, unconsolidated-undrained triaxial tests. formation hydrogels induces pore-clogging, resulting delay process, increased energy dissipation, compressibility. Furthermore, interaction between improved undrained shear soils, thereby reducing time required specific bearing capacity. demonstrates possible controlling hydraulic conductivity, seismic rapid surface stabilization. additional drainage is necessary situ applications.

Independent release behavior of Glipizide matrix release tablets containing chitosan and xanthan gum

The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of pH, buffer species and ionic strength on the release mechanism of Glipizide (G) from matrix tablets containing chitosan and xanthan gum prepared by a hot-melt extrusion process. The release mechanisms were controlled by the solubility and ionic properties of the polymers. All directly compressed (DC) tablets prepared in this study also e...

The Swelling Behavior of Clay - Sulfate Rocks

Clay-sulfate rocks are often encountered in engineering projects such as underground construction and waste repositories. The unique combination of clay swelling and chemical transformation of anhydrite into gypsum results in a swelling behavior that cannot be explained using conventional rock mechanics. The goals of this study are: 1) to investigate the strength characteristics of reconstitute...

Rheology of concentrated xanthan gum solutions: Oscillatory shear flow behavior

Using a strain-controlled rheometer, the dynamic viscoelastic properties of aqueous xanthan gum solutions with different concentrations were measured over a wide range of strain amplitudes and then the linear viscoelastic behavior in small amplitude oscillatory shear flow fields was investigated over a broad range of angular frequencies. In this article, both the strain amplitude and concentrat...

Dynamic light scattering of nano-gels of xanthan gum biopolymer in colloidal dispersion

The dynamical properties of nanogels of xanthan gum (XG) with hydrodynamic radius controlled in a size range from 5 nm to 35 nm, were studied at the different XG concentrations in water/sodium bis-2-ethylhexyl-sulfosuccinate (AOT)/decane reverse micelles (RMs) vs. mass fraction of nano-droplet (MFD) at W = 40, using dynamic light scattering (DLS). The diffusion study of nanometer-sized droplets...
